In July of 2024, St. Anne Friends of the Needy served 3,834 souls and gave out 883 food boxes.

This July 2025, the Lord multiplied your generosity:

• 5,456 neighbors served - a 42% increase.

• 1,870 food boxes distributed - a 112% increase.

• 82,200 lbs of food rescued - a 142% increase over last year, keeping thousands of pounds out of the landfill and placing them into the hands of the hungry.

Every food box we give is not just a handout, but an opportunity to witness to those in crisis - to offer the hope of Jesus Christ through a moment of prayer, personal encounter and the richness of what the Catholic Church has to offer.

Why volunteer?
As a former youth minister, I have seen firsthand how serving others changes lives - especially the lives of our young people. In a culture that often asks first, “How can I benefit? What can I get out of this?”, volunteering draws us out of ourselves. It transforms the heart, leading to encounter and a deeper relationship with the Triune God.

St. John Paul II said: “Man cannot fully find himself except through a sincere gift of himself.”

When we step beyond our own concerns to serve those in need, we discover not only the face of Christ in the poor, but also the joy of giving ourselves away for love of Him and neighbor.

How can you help?

We urgently need more drivers to keep up with 25+ store pickups each week, rescuing 3,000 – 5,000 lbs of food a day that would otherwise go to waste.

Sunday is one of our heaviest days - three big-box stores bring in nearly 5,000 lbs of food in a single morning. We need help sorting this food, or offering support by riding along with our current drivers to pick up and unload these large Sunday loads (for Sunday driving support, you must be able to lift 50 lbs).

Christ tells us, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few” (Luke 10:2). The harvest is here, in our community, among the families and individuals who come through our doors. Will you join us in the field?

People say, 'What is the sense of our small effort?' They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time. A pebble cast into a pond causes ripples that spread in all directions. Each one of our thoughts, words and deeds is like that. No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There's too much work to do.
