This week, Dr. Pitre examines two aspects of the familiar story which we will hear this Sunday of Jesus multiplying 5 loaves and two fishes to feed a multitude. First, he debunks a popular but mistaken interpretation of the miracle as a "miracle of sharing". Secondly: Why does the Gospel go out of its way to note that twelve baskets of bread were left over after Jesus fed the 5,000? Dr. Pitre uncovers this mystery.
   For this Sunday's second reading, St. Paul writes in Romans 8 that "nothing can separate us from the love of God" — a verse often read as proof that salvation, once received, can never be lost. Dr. Pitre examines whether that's really what Paul means in this verse.
