This Sunday, we will be celebrating the Solemnity of All Saints. In our first reading from Revelation 7:2-4, 9-14, John sees a vision of a great multitude in white robes carrying palm branches. Dr. Pitre uncovers the Old Testament background behind this striking image.
In our second reading from 1 John 3:1-3, St. John writes that one day we will see God "as he is," face to face. Dr. Pitre explains this Catholic teaching on the Beatific Vision and the hope it holds for every Christian.
Finally, in the Gospel reading from Matthew 5:1-12, Jesus opens the Sermon on the Mount with the Beatitudes, a surprising vision of happiness. Dr. Pitre explains how this teaching presents Jesus as a new and greater Moses.
